Welcome Welcome to the Help page for the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk Web Site. Hopefully, this will help you with "Navigating" around the Web Site. A few definitions should help you get started. Definitions Web Site- A series of electronic pages called web pages with information about the major topic. In this case, all of the pages in this Web Site relate to the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk. Web Page- Each page will cover a sub-topic related to the major topic. Web Site Address- This is the unique electronic location where you can start looking at the web site. For the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk, it is: Home Page- When you enter the Web Site Address you will be directed to the home page. Navigation- This describes how you get from one of the web pages to another, and then back again. It is kind of like the instructions you get for a trip from AAA. Navigation Words- These are words you will see on each of the pages which direct you to other pages. They are usually underlined in blue or purple. Web Site Template- All of our pages have the same look and feel. At the top left is the Presbyterian Church of the USA logo. To the right is our name and navigation words which will direct you to the major web pages. When you get to a web page, you can just click with your left mouse button the LCOTBHome words and you will be brought back to the home page, or you can chose another navigation word to get you to another section. In the middle is the content unique to each page. For example, the Women's page has information on the Circles. At the bottom, we have duplicated the navigation words so they're quickly available, and our phone number and address in case people want to contact us by phone or mail. Content Now for the really important part. That is the content which makes the Internet a valuable tool. It can keep you up-to-date no matter where you are about the comings and goings of the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk. We've decided to initially keep 4 kinds of information on the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk web site. 1. The home page mentioned above is intended to act like the "big hug" that the Little Chapel is known for. 2. There are several different information pages: - About our church describes the Session, our governing body, and the Staff which runs the day-to-day operation. Try going there and then come back to the Help page. Pretty easy, wasn't it. - Library describes the content of our library. It might include bulletins for the last year. - Contact Us provides the e-mail addresses of the staff members. (should we add session member's e-mail addresses?) - Other LINKS provide links to other web sites that you might find interesting. For example, the Presbyterian Church of USA site. - Directory is a holding area for people who would like their e-mail address provided to people looking at the web site. - reference is a holding area for reference material such as the Time and Talent information, Flower Request forms, funeral policies and planning document and the wedding policies and planning document. - Map to help new people find us in Wrightsville Beach. - Help provides friendly guidance to help the new user get started. 3. There are also several church program pages. These will provide a description for each of the programs along with other appropriate information. For example the PYC page might include pictures from a recent event. Program web pages and some of their potential content include: - Worship page. More detail on the current worship theme. Could include copies of the sermons. - Christian Education page. Planned education programs. - Outreach page. Mission activities - Music page. Music enrichment opportunities or samples of the church music. - Women of the Church page. Special speakers. - Men of the Church page. Golf schedules, and recipes from the Men's Nights dinners. - Presbyterian Youth page. Future events. - Fellowship page. Pictures from events. 4. Current events are described in: - Newsletter which is an electronic version of the hard copy monthly newsletter. - Calendar which is the electronic version of the calendar in the monthly newsletter. Computer Hardware & Software Consideration There are several assumptions we made when the web site was developed. - You are using Netscape x.x or Microsoft Internet Explorer y.y. - Recommend you set your screen up as 1024 X 768 pixels, and 16 bit color. - You have a personal computer with a mouse.
