Senior Pastor Todd Robert Wright
I was
born in December 1965 while my parents were stationed in Munich, West
Germany and grew up in Virginia. I received a B.A. in History and Latin American Studies from the
University of Virginia in 1988. During my senior year a friend encouraged
me to consider the ministry. After much prayerful struggle out under the
stars, I entered Union Theological Seminary, in Virginia and received a
Masters of Divinity degree in 1992. On September 26, 2005 I began a
Doctor of Ministry program through Columbia Theological Seminary.
I was called by First Presbyterian Church in Kinston, NC to be
their Associate Pastor and was ordained by the Presbytery of New Hope.
I was called to be pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Holly, NC
in April 1997.
I married my wife Maureen in
1991. We have 2 beautiful children, Emily and Nathan.
I am an avid swimmer, an active member of Rotary International,
and an earnest volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. My seminary roommate
taught me how to juggle and on many Friday nights I’ll make pizza from
scratch for my family. The rest of the week, like many parents, I shuttle
my kids between art class, soccer practice, cub scouts, and safety
patrol. I’m looking forward to putting my kayak to good use!

Meet
Mike Baynai
Associate Pastor
Mike
was born in Detroit, Michigan as the middle child in a family of seven
children. His father is first generation Hungarian (hence the name “Baynai”)
and his mother is first generation Scottish-Canadian. Mike spent about 20
years in the trucking industry before earning his college degree. After
feeling the call to ministry he entered Princeton Theological Seminary,
graduating in 1998.
While in seminary, Mike was elected to the Student Government Association
for three consecutive years, and continues to represent the school as a
Vocational Representative when vocational fairs are held on college
campuses.
At
his former church, Mike made a large impact by starting many programs:
summer softball leagues, lock-ins, camping/kayaking trips, nursing home
programs/visitations, Mother’s Day breakfasts, Father’s Day picnics,
Samaritan’s Purse Shoe Box ministry, and Prison Fellow’s Project Angel Tree.
Mike prefers to lead by example; he is positive, creative, encouraging, and
believes that prayer, planning, organization, communication, and teamwork
are the keys to success in any endeavor.
Mike is excited to come to a church with a congregation that loves to pray,
actively supports worship, and one that respects tradition but is willing to
try new things!

Meet Karen Scheboth

Our new
Administrative Assistant came to us highly recommended by her former
church members at Butner Presbyterian, located in Butner, NC; and, by
her present church pastor, Rev. Roland Banks of Windermere Presbyterian
Church. She is a dedicated Presbyterian Elder who has participated in
so many Presbyterian activities at the local church level, as well as
the Presbytery level, that there are not enough pages in this newsletter
to print them all.
Karen is
a wife to Bob and mother to Jaclynn , Courtney , and Travis
. Bob stays busy being a computer System’s Analyst, Jaclynn is a
senior at UNCW, and the two younger children attend Noble Middle School
and Blair Elementary School.
Karen
loves all phases of church work; clown ministry, singing, playing piano,
and working with children. Her hobbies include shopping, swimming, and
going to the movies with her children. |
