Our Eden Village House, named "Safe Harbor," was placed in its permanent location December 28. Marti Shogi, Co-Moderator of the Mission Committee and leader of the Eden Village project, witnessed the entire event - from the lifting of the house from the truck, to the positioning by the crane operator, to the final lowering onto the foundation. Now utilities must be connected and finishing touches done. Soon it will be more than a house -- it will be a home. |

Eden Village of Wilmington will be a 32-unit tiny home community specially designed to provide permanent homes for chronically homeless individuals including patients of the local hospital. Many patients of the medical center experience chronic illness, which are treatable but require consistent living circumstances to improve treatment results. A home is an essential component to long-term health care for these individuals and a proven, permanent solution to chronic homelessness.
Eden Village is currently being constructed next to the airport and adjacent to the upcoming new Salvation Army Complex, providing future access to appropriate support services, transportation, and job training. This community will house our city's disabled, chronically homeless friends with a fixed-government income of $300 per month, will be provided access to a supportive community, support services and paired with a home team that meets monthly.
