"God of the Ages, Whose Almighty Hand"
God of the ages, whose almighty hand
leads forth in beauty all the starry band
Of shining worlds in splendor through the skies,
our grateful songs before Thy throne arise.

Thy love divine hath led us in the past.
In this free land by Thee our lot is cast.
Be Thou our ruler, guardian, guide, and stay:
Thy word our law, Thy paths our chosen way.

From war’s alarms, from deadly pestilence,
be Thy strong arm our ever sure defense.
They true religion in our hearts increase.
Thy bounteous goodness nourish us in peace.

Refresh Thy people on their toilsome way.
Lead us from night to never-ending day.
Fill all our lives with love and grace divine,
And glory, laud, and praise be ever Thine.
"My Country, ‘Tis of Thee"

My country, ‘tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing:
land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrims’ pride,
from every mountainside, let freedom ring.

My native country, thee, land of the noble free, thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills, thy woods and templed hills;
my heart with rapture thrills like that above.

Let music swell the breeze, and ring from all the trees sweet freedom’s song.
Let mortal tongues awake; let all that breathe partake;
let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.

Our father’s God, to thee, author of liberty, to thee we sing.
Long may our land be bright with freedom’s holy light;
Protect us by thy might, great God, our King.
"O Beautiful for Spacious Skies"

O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain,
for purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed his grace on thee,
and crown they good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife,
who more than self their country love, and mercy more than life!
America! America! God mend thy every flaw;
confirm thy soul in self-control, they liberty in law!

O beautiful for patriot dream that sees beyond the years
thine alabaster cities gleam, undimmed by human tears!
America! America! May God they gold refine
till all success be nobleness and every grain divine!

                  “All Things Bright and Beautiful”
All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens, each little bird that sings,
God made their glowing colors; God made their tiny wings.
All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.

The purple-headed mountain, the river running by,
the sunset, and the morning that brightens up the sky:
All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.

The cold wind in the winter, the pleasant summer sun,
the ripe fruits in the garden, God made them every one.
All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.

God gave us eyes to see them, and lips that we might tell
how great is God Almighty, who has made all things well.
All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.
          “My Hope is Built on Nothing Less”
 My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face, I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.

His oath, his covenant, his blood support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.

When He shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in Him be found,
Dressed in his righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.

                  “I Love to Tell the Story”
 I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story, because I know ‘tis true;
It satisfies my longings as nothing else could do.
I love to tell the story; ‘twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story; ‘tis pleasant to repeat
What seems, each time I tell it, more wonderfully sweet!
I love to tell the story, for some have never heard
The message of salvation from God’s own hold Word.
I love to tell the story; ‘twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story, for those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it, like the rest.
And when, in scenes of glory, I sing the new, new song,
‘Twill be the old, old story that I have loved so long.
I love to tell the story; ‘twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

From All that Dwell Below the Skies – setting by Hal Hopson
 Closing Chime

For the Beauty of the Earth
For the beauty of the earth,
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
 Over and around us lies.
REFRAIN: Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.

For the wonder of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon, and stars of light.
REFRAIN

For the joy of ear and eye,
For the heart and mind’s delight,
For the mystic harmony
Linking sense to sound and sight:
REFRAIN

We Are One in the Spirit
We are one in the Spirit; we are one in the Lord;
We are one in the Spirit; we are one in the Lord,
And we pray that all unity may one day be restored:

Refrain: And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love;
Yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.

We will walk with each other; we will walk hand in hand;
We will walk with each other; we will walk hand in hand,
And together we’ll spread the news that God is in our land:

Refrain

We will work with each other; we will work side by side;
We will work with each other; we will work side by side,
And we’ll guard human dignity and save human pride:

Refrain

All praise to the Father from whom all things come,
And all praise to Christ Jesus, God’s only Son,
And all praise to the Spirit, who makes us one:

Refrain

A Litany of Thanksgiving for Mother’s Day
Pastor:  Mothers come in many different forms and today we celebrate them all, as we draw on the image, O God, of you as one who nurtures, who gathers, who protects. We pray for those women who have nurtured us and  others, and who are no longer with us and whom we miss dearly.

People:  We reflect upon those women who have influenced our own lives in so many ways, and we give thanks.

 Pastor:  We pray for the women around the world who are working long days and nights to raise their children right now.

People:  We pray for the mothers around the world.

Pastor:  We pray for mothers who have fled violence and difficult situations, including refugees, and who have been separated from their children, or experienced the tragedy of the death of a child.

People:  We pray for mothers living in uncertainty and facing the unknown.

Pastor:  We pray for all the women who are expecting, but aren’t quite mothers yet.

People:  Thank God for the soon-to-be mothers.

 Pastor:  We pray for families where a mother’s illness has led to an early death.  We pray for those who step in to help with the care and nurture of the children, including extended family. We pray for the women who took in others’ children through adoption and foster care.

People:  We give thanks for these mothers with such big hearts.

Pastor:  We pray for those women who have lost children to death and still must carry on.

People:  We pray for strength and courage for mothers who have faced grief and loss.

Pastor:  We pray for women whose children have grown and whom they now seldom see.

People:  We pray for mothers who are at a distance from their children.

Pastor:  We pray for all the women who have desperately wanted to have children of their own, but chose instead to mother everyone else.

People:  We thank God for the mothers in spirit.

 Pastor:  Loving and merciful God, we offer these prayers to you this day.

From All That Dwell Below the Skies
From all that dwell below the skies
Let the Creator’s praise arise:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Let the Redeemer’s name be sung
Through every land, in every tongue.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

In every land begin the song;
To every land the strains belong:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
In cheerful sound all voices raise
And fill the world with joyful praise.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Eternal are thy mercies, Lord;
Eternal truth attends the word:
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore,
Till suns shall rise and set no more.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

I COME WITH JOY
I come with joy, a child of God, forgiven, loved, and free,
The life of Jesus to recall, in love laid down for me,
in love laid down for me.

I come with Christians far and near to find, as all are fed,
The new community of love in Christ’s communion bread,
in Christ’s communion bread.

As Christ breaks bread and bids us share, each proud division ends.
The love that made us, makes us one, and strangers now are friends,
and strangers now are friends.

The Spirit of the risen Christ, unseen, but ever near,
Is in such friendship better known, alive among us here,
alive among us here.

Together met, together bound by all that God has done,
We’ll go with joy to give the world the love that makes us one,
the love that makes us one.

IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME
In remembrance of me, eat this bread.
In remembrance of me, drink this wine.
In remembrance of me, pray for the time when God’s own will is done.

In remembrance of me, heal the sick.
In remembrance of me, feed the poor.
In remembrance of me, open the door
and let your neighbors in, let them in.

Take, eat, and be comforted; drink and remember too,
That this is my body and precious blood shed for you, shed for you.

In remembrance of me, search for truth.
In remembrance of me, always love.
In remembrance of me, don’t look above,
but in your heart, look for God.

Do this in remembrance of me.

GOD BE WITH YOU
TILL WE MEET AGAIN
 God be with you till we meet again;
Loving counsels guide, uphold you, with a shepherd’s care enfold you: God be with you till we meet again.

God be with you till we meet again;
Unseen wings protecting hide you, daily manna still provide you:
God be with you till we meet again.

God be with you till we meet again;
When life’s perils thick confound you, put unfailing arms around you:
God be with you till we meet again.

God be with you till we meet again;
keep love’s banner floating o’er you,
Smite death’s threatening wave before you:
God be with you till we meet again.

EVERY MORNING IS EASTER MORNING
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their gold crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
Who wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinfulness thy glory may not see,
Only Thou art holy; There is none beside Thee,
Perfect in power, in love and purity.

Holy, holy, holy!  Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba yah!
Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba yah!

CHRIST IS RISEN!  SHOUT HOSANNA!
Christ is risen! Shout Hosanna! Celebrate this day of days!
Christ is risen!  Hush in wonder: all creation is amazed.
In the desert all surrounding, see, a spreading tree has grown.
Healing leaves of grace abounding bring a taste of love unknown.

Christ is risen!  Raise your spirits from the caverns of despair.
Walk with gladness in the morning.  See what love can do and dare.
Drink the wine of resurrection, not a servant, but a friend.
Jesus is our strong companion.  Joy and peace shall never end.

Chris is risen!  Earth and heaven nevermore shall be the same.
Break the bread of new creation where the world is still in pain.
Tell its grim, demonic chorus: “Chris is risen!  Get you gone!”
God the First and Last is with us.  Sing Hosanna everyone!

JESUS CHRIST IS RISEN TODAY
 Jesus Christ is risen today, Allleluia!
Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once upon the cross, Allelulia!
Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia.

Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
Unto Christ, our heavenly King, Allelulia!
Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
Sinners to redeem and save.  Alleluia!

But the pains which He endured, Alleluia!
Our salvation have procured; Alleluia!
Now above the sky He’s King, Alleluia!
Where the angels ever sing.  Alleluia!

Sing we to our God above, Alleluia!
Praise eternal as God’s love; Alleluia!
Praise our God, ye heavenly host, Alleluia!
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.  Alleluia!
THE DAY OF RESURRECTON
The day of resurrection! Earth, tell it out abroad;
The Passover of gladness, The Passover of God.
From death to life eternal, From this world to the sky,
Our Christ hath brough us over With hymns of victory.

Our hearts be pure from evil, That we may see aright
The Lord in rays eternal Of resurrection light;
And, listening to His accents, May hear, so calm and plain,
 His own “All hail!” and, hearing, May raise the victor strain.

Now let the heavens be joyful, Let earth the song begin,
Let the round world keep triumph, And all that is therein.
Let all things seen and unseen Their notes of gladness blend,
For Christ the Lord is risen, Our joy that hath no end.
