The Souper Bowl of Caring began in 1990 with a simple prayer by Reverend Brad Smith at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in Columbia, South Carolina: “Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat.”
Since that day, more than $71 million has been raised for local charities across the country during Super Bowl weekend. On Sunday, February 12, you can share God’s love with those in need by donating money and/or canned soup for the Salvation Army.
Don’t forget, we also use our donations to vote for our favorite team!
